‘Israeli Identities: Past, Present and Future’

The EAIS 6th Annual Conference on Israel Studies will take place from Sunday, 10 September to Tuesday, 12 September 2017 at the University of Wroclaw, Poland. The conference will be held in English.

The aim of the conference is to bring together international scholars from a variety of disciplines who are engaged in research in any aspect of Israel studies – including Politics, Literature, Security, Minorities, Social Studies, History, Migration Studies, Gender Studies, Economics, Law, Religion, Anthropology, Language, Culture, Film, Music and Art. This is not an exclusive list. The Conference will continue to build on areas previously investigated in the academic literature and stimulate new fields of intellectual enquiry.

The conference organisers welcome all proposals which are pertinent to Israel Studies and the theme of the conference. Proposals for Panels or Round Tables are especially welcome.

You should include for each proposed participant an abstract for each paper in the Panel (maximum 250 words each). List the participants if a Round Table. Panels should have a minimum of three and a maximum of four speakers/discussants.

All proposals are subject to a review process. The outcome of the proposal review process will be communicated by email to lead proposers no later than early May for individuals and earlier for panels.


The EAIS will offer a limited number of travel and accommodation stipends to enable postgraduate research students and junior faculty with no institutional support who are EAIS members at the time of applying to attend the conference.
