Our programme of events continues to expand and we look forward to welcoming you at one of our exciting gatherings soon:

  • Our Annual Conference brings together scholars from a variety of disciplines who are engaged in research relating to any aspect of Israel Studies, including but not limited to: Politics, Literature, History, Economics, Language, Culture, Music, and Art. Papers are presented by our members, but members and non-members alike are welcome to attend as delegates. The 7th Annual Conference on Israel Studies took place at SOAS University of London from 2 to 4 September 2018. The 8th Annual Conference on Israel Studies is due to take place at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic from 8 to 10 September 2019.
  • Our Annual Graduate Workshop gathers graduate students from all academic disciplines whose doctoral dissertations engage with the study of Israel in order that they can discuss aspects of their research and receive advice and guidance from peers and a panel of established academics. It provides a forum where they can raise and discuss any methodological, theoretical, practical, and ethical issues arising from their study of Israel, with the purpose of troubleshooting any difficulties with which graduate students are currently grappling and to offer them help and advice. Presenters are encouraged to explain the nature of their research, any relevant hypotheses or research questions, and any proposed methodological and / or theoretical frameworks used.  The 2nd Annual Graduate Workshop in Israel Studies took place on 17 March 2019 at SOAS University of London.
  • Our Annual Lecture series was launched in 2014 with a fascinating talk from Ambassador Efraim Halevy, former head of Mossad, to a full house at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London.  This members-only event is typically hosted in partnership with a prestigious institution and the lecture is given by an eminent speaker.  The 2nd Annual Lecture was hosted in partnership with the Department of Asian and North African Studies and the Specialist Master’s Programme, Crossing the Mediterranean: Cultural Mediation towards Investment and Integration (MIM) at Ca’Foscari University of Venice and Avraham Burg was the guest speaker.  This series is due to relaunch in the 2019/20 academic year and the 3rd Annual Lecture is expected to take place in Autumn 2019 at The Theodor Herzl Centre for Israeli Studies at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest, Romania.
